Yesterday I finally decided to get my rear in gear and make something (I've been in a funk, I have so much I want to do, so much I need to do, and so much I HAVE to do, I have been stuck with triaging order.) Anyway, I keep saying I want to make a quilt with the 2 charm packs I won from Project Run and Play, and yesterday I just went for it, decided on a pattern, and cut all my 6" squares into triangles, and cut out a bunch of white triangles too.
After sewing all my triangles back into squares with a 1/4" seam allowance (albeit half white, half colored squares) I ironed and trimmed them down to 5.25" squares, with the diagonal perfectly on the 45 degree angle. After matching up squares into similar colors, I sewed the squares together to make a herringbone pattern that I think is pretty fun! (the herringbone pattern came after much rotating; just using half triangle squares I was able to get squares, diamonds, chevrons, uneven chevrons, diagonal stripes, etc.) Anyway, I feel like this is not too bad for just a days worth of work, and I feel like I did a lot towards improving the funk! (I spent more time trying to figure out what I was going to do, than doing it!) Anyway, I am going to take this up to the quilters this saturday, so I am looking forward to seeing it done, and I am excited to have used my prize! (I also got coordinating backing fabric as part of my prize, so when it is all said and done, I will do a proper photoshoot of the whole thing!)
