About Me

Hi, I’m Catherine or Cath to my loved ones! I am the mother of 2 beautiful children (Isaac 11, and Emmie 9,) and the wife of the most amazing and indulgent husband ever, (his name is Paul, and we have been married for over 12 years!) I have a degree in  Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Historical Craft and Costume Studies, (what that essentially means is I studied Art History and Craft with a little theater costuming thrown in.)I am a weaver and a dyer that loves to make my own fabric to sew with.

I am an accomplished seamstress after years of daily working with fabric, and have spent time in the past making wedding dresses and formal wear professionally; although everyday clothes for my children are actually my favorite thing to sew - I love making well made, wearable art!

I’ve tried almost any craft you can think of, and my children think I can make *anything* (not true ☺) I don’t *love* to cook, but I do love to serve my family when I can, so I do have cooking and baking moments!

My husband is an active duty officer in the U.S. Air Force, and as such we move a lot! I have learned to make a home wherever we are sent, and I have learned to do it quickly. We have adventures doing the big things, but also see the significance in the minute details of the little things. Travel is one of our highest priorities since we feel like seeing the world will be the greatest gift we give ourselves and our children. We are currently stationed at Osan AFB in South Korea, so my posts frequently talk about the adventure we are having!

This blog is supposed to be my little corner of the universe, where I record my attempts at anything and everything, and hopefully strive towards my ultimate goal of being more graceful!

I just love how that sounds, graceful, I would love for that word to be the one that defines me. I associate such lovely things with grace, Grace Kelly, ballerinas, etc. I even looked the word up to get the exact definition, and found that it meant so much more than I thought it did,

Grace [greys] Show IPA noun, verb, graced, grac•ing.
–noun
elegance or beauty of form, manner, motion, or action.
a pleasing or attractive quality or endowment.
favor or good will.
disposition to, or an act or instance of kindness, courtesy.
the quality or state of being considerate or thoughtful
moral strength: the grace to perform a duty.
-verb (used with object)
to lend or add grace to; adorn: Many fine paintings graced the rooms of the house.
-Idioms
with good grace, willingly; ungrudgingly: She took on the extra work with good grace.

I love that grace is about beauty, creating, adorning, serving, kindness and duty; that is why I have chosen grace to be the theme of my blog, because I am hoping to increase in my talents, and service to my family and world at large, I am Catherine seeking grace!

I LOVE comments and followers, and I am very grateful to everyone who is willing to stick around even through my periods of silences and my awful forgetfulness when it comes to following through with some thoughts I start and then only finish a couple of months later! I often get caught up with my everyday living here in Korea, and it's hard to remember to stop and record everything!

Anyway, my main takeaway point is I *LOVE* FEEDBACK and FOLLOWERS, since they makes me feel like I am not talking into the wind, and I will do my best to do a good job with keeping up with my posts, but I am also totally aware that I can be a pain when it comes to following through with that sometimes!) OH, and I frequently abuse CAPS (parentheses) and exclamation points!!! (SORRY!!!!!)

this is one of the rare pictures of me with some of my art, the Jacket is one I wove and had featured in Handwoven Magazine, and the Piece on the wall is handwoven and shibori dyed, and was on display in a gallery when this picture was taken.
